Summary:
The research described in this work has been aimed at the development and application of a promising new framework for analyzing and reducing the large, linear, time-invariant models that arise in the study of dynamic stability in power systems. This framework has been termed Selective Modal Analysis or SMA. The results demonstrate that SMA goes beyond traditional modal analysis methods in ways that appear crucial to eventual practical use of modal methods in both off-line and on-line applications.
